As you can see I went to Berlin with 5 girlfriends and if you read my previous post you would know that it was to celebrate a 30th birthday - aaaand we certainly celebrated!
Friday we met at the airport at 6pm and because we did the check-in from home, we could go directly to the security check. After that we went to Gorms Pizza to eat and have a drink before takeoff. A god way to start a weekend getaway! The flight only took one hour, so we went directly to our hotel apartment in a cab, changed our clothes, had a drink and went out. The birthday girl know a guy who works for Jägermeister and he had somewhat arranged the night for us. We met with him and his colleagues at a very cool place, which I also was recommended by a few people - The Grand. It's both a bar, restaurant and club. The place has a very cool vibe and while we were there, there was some live music. After 1-1,5 hour we left for another place called Kitty Cheng. This was sort of a bar/club, and we stayed there for hours partying and dancing around. The grand finale was a place called Avenue, which we also liked a lot. There was a large dance floor and even though the place was huge, it was packed. I kind of remember that they were about to close the place when we decided to go back home to our apartment.
Saturday we got up and got ourselves ready to go out for breakfast. The first place we tried to get a table looked really cool, but unfortunately they were full. We decided to try agin the following day, and went further down the street and found a small and cozy place - Miro - where we had eegs, bread, coffee and whatever you need after a night of dancing. It was actually a satisfying meal.
We wanted to walk around like tourist the rest of the day and, of course, get some shopping done as well. Since we stayed close to Kurfürstendamm, we decided to go there. Kurfürstendamm has some really nice shops and at some point someone said "Now everyone has bought something!" - check! Then we could continue on and be more cultural.
We went for a long walk through the park "Tiergarten", walking by the Berlin Victory Column and all the way up to Brandenburger Tor. The weather was so pretty and it was perfect for a walk. I guess at that point all of us needed some air and as we reached Brandenburger Tor we decided to go and find a café where we could relax and have something to drink. We found a retro place called Vintage Steel Bikes in Wilhelmstraße.
