Day 5 in Bol, Brac Island, Croatia
We got up at 9, had a quick coffee at our cute balcony and got ourselves ready to go out for breakfast. At Taverna Riva we all had Eggs Benedict and coffee. Not exactly how I would make an Eggs Benedict, but it was ok!
We went for a walk to Zlatnia Rat Beach (2,5K), aka The Golden Horn, but just as we got there the weather got very windy and we decided to head back to the city center, where we found a cozy and crowded spot with a beautiful view overlooking the harbor, called Moby Dick. Here we sat for hours zipping beer and wine and had fun talking to our neighbor tables. The fun stopped when the waiters started pushing and yelling at each other, that was our call to leave - exactly why the atmosphere got a bit intense among the staff, we never truly figured, but it all started when big mama of the house spotted the wine opener at our table🤔🤷🏼♀️ However, if the waiters are slow, which is a bit of an understatement at Moby Dick, sinse they were unbelievably slow - well then we serve ourselves💁🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
Afterwards we went shopping I Bol’s sweet, little shops and bought some cute dresses for me and Raven, and some nice shirts for Jacob - they have so many adorable summer dresses here😍
We decided to head home to shower and get ready to go out, because today our plan was to skip lunch, but go out for dinner instead. Huge!!
We heard that Vusio Restaurant should be very luxurious, but we had our doubts about that, because the food here is okay and it’s possible to find some good food, but the standard is a biiiiiit below the standard we are used to, to be honest. We went anyway and ordered a cauliflower soup, beef carpaccio, Gorgonzola gnocchi and a steak for Jacob. All in all it was okay, but we weren’t exactly blown away.
Our waiter Antonio (who we called Fabio for most of the night) was very nice and gave us so much attention. He told us he had worked at the restaurant for 19 years and lived just a few streets away. He told us a lot about the city of Bol, because he is one of the few people that lives here all year around - there is only about 1000 inhabitants during the winter season😳🤨
Antonio’s calculation of his years working there🙈😂
After dinner we went to Veradero for a few drinks - it is a cozy restaurant during the day and we were actually there the other day to have a refreshing juice, but apparently it turns into an outdoor nightclub during the evening, maybe because these days the Bol Summer Festival is taking place. We almost got ourselves carried away by the great atmosphere, but luckily we came to our senses at last and decided to head home.
The walk home is only about 10-15 minutes, but we live up the hill and the walk is quite tough, so we decided to cool down and take a skinny dip in the pool when we got home. Our neighbor wasn’t happy about that decision, and when Raven made a water bomb at 2 o’clock in the morning, he got out on his balcony and started yelling: “Can we agree that it is late, girls?”. We agreed and went to bed😅🙈 That was the end of the night.
To be continued....
